Objective

Certification

What are the difference between Safety Health Officer (SHO) & Safety Site Supervisor (SSS)?

  • Safety and Health Officer (SHO) Course: Designed for managing workplace safety across various industries. Suitable for professionals like safety officers and managers. Requires higher qualifications (minimum SPM/SPMV) and focuses on broader OSH laws and management practices.
  • Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) Course: Tailored for construction site safety. Ideal for site supervisors and foremen. Requires basic qualifications (minimum PMR/PT3) and focuses on construction-specific safety regulations and practices.

Regulation 25 (2) of the Factories and Machinery (Building Operations and Works of Engineering Construction [BOWEC]) (Safety) Regulations 1986 has stipulate that site safety supervisor must be a person who is competent to perform the duties specified in sub-regulation (3) and (4), and have qualifications approved by the Chief Inspector and working experience of at least for two years as a construction site foreman. Chief Inspector is Director General of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.

The certification is essential as it validates your competency to work as a Site Safety Supervisor (SSS), ensuring compliance with Malaysian safety regulations and enhancing your career prospects in the construction industry.
